Wood is possibly the most basic resource in the game. It is used for laying out twig structures, fuel for furnaces/campfires, early stage armor and weapons, furniture/storage, and so on. It is gathered relatively quickly, but is consumed very fast.

Crafting
Wood cannot be crafted — it drops as loot, comes from a research blueprint, or is found at monuments.
Recycling
Rust has two recycler types. Monument recyclers are faster and yield 60%, but you can be attacked. Safe-zone recyclers in Outpost and Bandit yield 40% and take longer, but turrets protect you.
Wood cannot be recycled.
