Troubleshooting
Common questions about Rustalytics: pairing failures, SmartScreen warnings, the 24-hour trial, billing, the Pro + desktop dual-use limitation, and more.
Got a question?
These are the questions that come up most often in our Discord. If yours isn't here, join the Discord and ask — we usually answer within a few hours.
I can't pair my server or smart device.
Most pairing failures come from one of three things: the server admin disabled Rust+, your account hasn't re-registered with Rust+ since the last big patch, or a firewall is blocking outbound FCM. Try the Rust+ "Re-register" button in the in-game Rust+ menu, then pair again. If it still doesn't work, hop into our Discord and we'll dig in.
Pairing seems to work, but the server never appears.
Some community servers explicitly disable Rust+. Ask the admins; Rustalytics can't bypass that switch.
Windows shows a SmartScreen / Defender warning when I run the desktop installer.
Getting an EV code-signing cert is a lengthy process, so SmartScreen flags us by default. Windows Defender can block it but we are safe and used by thousands of players.
Will I get banned for using Rustalytics?
No. Rustalytics talks to Facepunch's official Rust+ companion API — the same one the Rust+ mobile app uses. There's no game-client modification.
Do I need to keep my PC on for the bot to work?
Basic — yes, the desktop app runs on your PC and stops when you close it. Pro — no, the bot is hosted on our servers and stays connected 24/7.
I'm Pro and downloaded the desktop app — should I run both?
Not yet. Rust+ allows one connection per Steam account at a time, and the two will keep disconnecting each other. Native side-by-side is on the roadmap; for now pick one. If you're Pro, the desktop app is mostly redundant — your hosted bot already provides the same panels at /app and /connect/<server>.
How long is the free trial?
24 hours, one per Steam account, no card up-front. Start it from /freetrial. After it ends, your account drops back to Basic unless you subscribe.
How do I cancel or change my payment method?
Sign in to /app, click Manage Subscription. That opens Stripe's customer portal where you can cancel, switch billing cycles, update your card, or download invoices. Cancellations stay active until the end of the period — no refund needed for the unused remainder.
The !time / !heli / !cargo timer is wrong on my server.
Vanilla day/night ratios and event timings are baked into our predictions. Modded servers that adjust day length or event spawn rates will skew the answers. We don't have a way to detect those automatically yet.
What happens after a wipe?
The bot detects the wipe and refreshes the cached map, monuments, and team state. Smart switches and tracked players that survive the wipe stay paired. Local message history clears — that's a feature, not a bug, since old messages stop matching the new map anyway.
Why can't I send messages from the bot to team chat?
Common reasons: you don't have a team formed in Rust yet, your server rate-limits messages and our message delay is too low, or the server strips special characters. Try forming a team, raising the messagedelay setting, and toggling the emoji setting off.
Tracker notifications are too noisy.
Open Settings → Tracker Notifications and turn it off. The tracker still works inside the app; you just stop getting Windows toasts every time someone joins or leaves.
I'm in China / behind a strict firewall and the bot won't connect.
Rust+ uses Google's FCM endpoints which are blocked in some regions. There isn't a workaround we control. Outside of those regions, normal corporate firewalls usually need outbound TCP 443 open to Google's domains.
I moved to a new computer. Do I lose my settings, switches, and trackers?
Settings sync to our servers automatically (see Settings → Sync). Smart switches and tracked players are stored against your Steam account too, so reinstalling is fine — sign in with the same Steam account and everything reappears.
